Walk this way?

I forgot to mention that the folks who owned the B&B were keen cyclists, and told me that the "Cumberland Gap" - the two-lane dual of A74, just N of Carlisle - had finally been upgraded to motorway status, so I couldn't walk on it [if you knew it - you wouldn't have wanted to, anyway!]. She highlighted a relief road, which I would never have found, so it saved me a 7 mile detour :)

Mon 27th
I reached the outskirts of Carlisle @ 10:30, and reached Gretna Green around 16:00, to spend the night in one of the hotels - I've forgotten the name [£39 - for the room]. I met this chap fae Aberdeen, so we had a good chat in the Doric.
I've been pampering myself, by staying in B&Bs and hotels, as I have a fair bit of bruising between my big toe and the next, so I'm trying sort that out. It is probably due to my unorthodox, compensating gait - walk this way - you have got to be joking!
