Wednesday Sept 1.
I decided to take today off and rest my ankle, I'm hoping it gets better enough tomorrow, to start off on a limited amount of miles per day, to start with. The folks here have been really great.
It is certainly displaying a cracking spectrum of colours, today. I'm going to take a few colour pictures of it to play on the sympathy vote. I spent the day doing a little light tourist stuff. I also bought a sleeping mat, and light sleeping bag - guess why!?
I also bought some strap on wheels so that I can pull my ruck-sack, until my ankle strengthens again.
I'll look like one of these old dears who trundle around town, constantly banging into your ankles! But who really cares?
I'm determine to make it, however long it takes. As I've said, even if it takes the rest of my earthly existence.
In fact, I've got it written into my will that pall-bearers are instructed to carry my coffin the rest of the way to JOG  - and I may even have a sea-burial. That would actually be quite appropriate!

  1. Dave you need some encouragement! Putting a brave face on it is good but not going to be enough. So glad you arrived with a Dr and Nurse, a day of rest must have been their advice. The insulated mat and sleeping bag must be absolutely essential, its warm during the day but you have to be prepared for temperatures falling to zero. As you've said take it easy on yourself to begin with and ease yourself in, after a week you should start to pick things up and then there'll be no stopping you! Watch out for Cornish pasties they're great value. I'm thinking of sponsoring you per mile so dinnae give up or I'll be seen as a meanie. Cheers the noo, enjoy the sun, Charlie.
