Tuesday 14th

Rained most of the night, but the rhythm of the pouring rain is quite therapeutic.
Woke up to find a new buddy in my tent – a 4” long slug – must have got fed up of the overnight rain - or maybe he felt an empathy?
Right up to date: in the YHA in Bristol. I’m now going to head off to get to the north of the city, hoping for a B&B, and then Cambridge tomorrow.

  1. Great place, Bristol, but then I was brought up there! "Cambridge" has good vibes too, but not the one on Gloucestershire to where I assume you're heading. BTW, you do know, don't you, that the A38 was once described as the longest country lane in England! [From memory it went from Plymouth to Derby and was always too narrow for the amount of traffic it carried in the pre-motorway days]

  3. Martin: I have actually found the walk-ways alongside the A38 far better, generally, than they were in Cornwall or Devon.
