Thursday 16th
Again difficult to find suitable accommodation, so spent the night, once more, at the side of the A38, just outside Down Hatherley.
This was now the third night in a row that I've tented, rough. So I must find a B&B tonight, for hygienic reasons.
Mind you, as a child, we only had a bath once a week on the Saturday, before the "Day of rest."
Those were the days: frost on the inside of the window; fully-dressing under the covers, computers!? - it was slate and chalk, I remember......
Whilst on the topic, I'm loving this rural environment, bringing back so many early memories, unfortunately, quite a few farmers are slurry-spreading, at the moment.
From memory, it was Queen Elizabeth 1 who said that she had a bath every year whether she needed it or not! Seriously, I heard once (Radio 4, so it must be right) that if you don't wash for about 10 days the bacterial balance on your skin settles down to a new balance point, so you don't smell worse and worse, just different. Why do we bother polluting the planet with our washing water?
ReplyDeleteMaybe we should all try it as an encouragement for the rambling rambler, if we smell different than now will we all smell the same after 10 days?
